FAQs

What do I need to attend a BratscheTogether workshop?

BratscheTogether Workshops are completely online, so participants will need to secure the following:

  • Reliable Internet Connection

  • Original scores and parts for the music you are studying

  • Use of an external mic would be preferred

  • A well lit room with substantial back lighting

  • Use of a reliable desktop, laptop computer, or a tablet would be preferred to a smartphone.

  • Access to the Zoom app and possibly access to Skype (depending on the private teacher’s preference).

  • Download the Slack app - we will be in contact with each other (faculty and students) via this app.

On what app will group meetings, lessons, and afternoon classes be held?

All group activities will take place via Zoom. Even when groups break apart into our PracticePartners Program, Chamber Music Program, participants will be provided with your own Zoom Breakout Rooms. Private lessons may or may not be held via Zoom. Some teachers may prefer to teach private lessons via FaceTime, Skype, or Zoom. Communication will mostly run through the Slack app and through occasional emails.

Can students of any level attend a BratscheTogether workshop?

The June and August sessions were specifically designed for advanced, collegiate violists (both undergrad and graduate levels) with select high school students. There is no age range necessarily, but plans are in the works to include more high school and adult amateur players for future workshops.

How do the auditor options work?

The auditor options are new for August! There are two auditor options. The first option is a hybrid option where you’ll have access to all live AND recorded masterclasses or panel discussions. You’ll also have access to all concerts. Additionally, the hybrid option allows for a hour-long lesson with one of our esteemed faculty members. The price is $129.

The second auditor option is for auditing only - no lesson. You’ll have access to all concerts, masterclasses, and panel discussions. The best part is that you can view all of these events at your own time just by clicking on an emailed link. Access to the masterclass links will be available for viewing through the month of August.

Will Florida All-State audition preparation be included in these workshops?

Yes. Because your private lessons are customized to your fit specific needs, you and your teacher can decide what repertoire on which to focus. Additionally, each workshop will feature an Afternoon Class that specifically caters to audition prep and audition mindset.

Will there be a focus on pedagogy?

While BratscheTogether workshops focus mainly on fellowship and performance, we will always have an Afternoon Class dedicated to Pedagogy and/or Entrepreneurship. Additionally, pedagogy enthusiasts will enjoy the bevy of master clinicians who have been invited to teach masterclasses and speak at our panel discussions.

How many students will be invited to each workshop?

For this summer, our limit will be 30 students. BratscheTogether takes pride in being able to maintain a family/small studio atmosphere. Again, this is about fellowship and generosity… virtually!
